Sadly one of the most common causes of paralysis, had a bro involved in a bad car accident years back, he spent over a year in a specialist spinal injury hospital and most of the other occupants were either motorbike accident or diving into shallow water, there will be 10/20 deaths every time we have a bit of hot weather through alcohol ,heat  and water always has always will be?

Nearly did it myself in wave pool as a kid but got away with a bust nose, still remember the feeling of my neck pushed back and crushed to a scarily unnatural angle. Seen more than my fair share of young paraplegics through work it's a miserable existence and ruins more than just one life. Most what I come across are motorbike accidents and a fair amount of them are due to good Samaritans taking the helmet off or moving them.

The Darwin Awards will have some serious contenders this year ...200 ft into 15ft of water ....?..one on life support , one with spinal injuries and one with a broken leg ...

Id of thought 15ft of water was plenty to be honest? Used to have Olympic diving boards at the local pool deep end was 16'6 and never got near the bottom even with a perfect dive. Not sure how long it takes to reach top speed though, top board was 10m I think but felt like 50 looking from the top

But looking on the bright side how many scantily clad women does the hot weather bring out. Daisy dukes and crop tops seem all the rage round here and I for one am not complaining!   p.s spent ten minutes behind a lycra clad woman cyclist yesterday, I could have overtaken her but what's the rush...

Ten metres ,your looking at around 32ft into 16’6 ...200ft ( 60mtr)  into 15ft .....that’s SIX times higher than an Olympic diving board ...Definitly Darwin material JD ...?

Covid funny for you. Nevada and California were locked down. In southern Utah we haven't been. When they open the local reservoir, after the initial panic, the tourists flooded in from Nevada and Cali. Some of these people would have spent hours driving here. The place was so full they blocked the roads parking all of their cars.

A woman from Las Vegas decided to jump from the rocks into the pool below. Seriously injures herself. They call the paramedics to get her but the roads are all blocked so they can't get to her. In comes the Life Flight helicopter! Now you all have the NHS so you're not going to get a nasty bill in couple of weeks. Imagine the cost differential between an ambulance and a helicopter! All because you couldn't sit it out...

Few beers. A bit of craic and ride to the hospital in a helicopter. Seems you can't fix stupid on either continent!

4 year old fell out of a dingy and drowned last night, not to far from me.

Found the boy this morning

Rip.

Watched a thing Sunday every body had come out of the wood work with their boats board you know all the gear and no idea. Well look up from where I was fishing with my mate and saw a dingy with a man and two kids in it a a biggish woman on a stand up board. Over the broad went and she was in 20 foot out from the shore, the guy in the dingy grabbed the board and the woman hung on to the side of the dingy. But she could not get back on the board or into the dingy. Instead of telling her to hang on and just row to the shore, she took her life jacket off to try and get into the dingy. She could not so the guy let go and she tried to pull herself onto the board but slipped off quite a few times, she was knocked. In the end she did just managed to get on the board but then nearly tipped the dingy over. They where so close to all ending up in the water I could see disaster happening. When she kept slipping off the board with out the life jacket or wet suit I thought she was going to be a goner.

A person needs to have a healthy respect for the sea/water, or you won't last long
