Listen , one of the benefits of management is you get to delegate. And have a bit of a laugh at someone else’s expense now and again . But I wouldn’t get someone to do something I wasn’t prepared to do myself, and I’ve got in there and tapped their yuds plenty . Air rifle ? And waste all those pellets on that black stuff ? I don’t think so ???

And I thought I was tight! Rock on brother ?

He has enjoyed the work so far  but I tested his resolve yesterday when I dropped the ladder trap and caught 45 crows . “ Now get in there and knock em on the head “. his face was a picture, but he did it , he came out covered in crap , his hair everywhere. Might make a keeper out of him yet .?

That’s quality, at least now you know he’s got it in him to do the mucky end of the job at first asking, I took one of my nephews out shooting rabbits and he back ended one into a hedge back, we went to retrieve it and he took the rifle off his shoulder, oh no my lad was my response, pick it up and I’ll show you how to dispatch it, I’m not touching it was his reply, so you are happy to shoot it, but when you make a mistake you are not prepared to put your mistake right, quickly and humanely, back to the car and off home we went ( after I stretched the bunny out ), never to come out with me again

I had a similar experience with one of my nephews year’s ago. My sister in law asked me to take her boy onto the shoot to “help” me .
she said all he wants to do is go on his computer and hang around the house , “he needs to get out in the fresh air and get a bit dirty “, I said I’ll see what I can do .
He came around my house in his designer trainers with a face like a smacked arse . My guess was he didn’t want to be there , anymore than I wanted him there but I’d promised my Mrs to take her sisters kid out with me . I got him to help me bag up some wheat, which went ok , so as a reward I said “ wanna shoot a rabbit “ ? “I dunno   , I guess it might be ok “. So he had a practice with my 22lr and shot quite well , so I took him to shoot one , he missed several before I realised that he must be missing on purpose, so I got the gun and shot one , I sent him to pick it up and I will never forget him getting a tissue out of his pocket and holding the rabbit at arms length WTF . We are all different I suppose and in fairness his family probably represents what a lot of people are like now , country ways and shooting are totally alien to them .

Yep, generation after generation has been mind sterilised and stereotyped.

No more broad spectrum live and let live principles exist anymore.

The irony is though most of today's youth don't mind graphic violent films or violent computer games. Killing fellow humans is entertainment, killing an animal is now disgusting!

My only experience of kids is my own so I'm so proud to say how my 7yo daughter is bucking the trend. She is happiest outside, loves helping me with sheep & shooting and is not only aware of where food/meat comes from she actively tells her friends and her left wing dreadlocked teacher the benefits of predator control!!

My only experience with kids is other people’s, because I’m far to irresponsible to have my own, problem is these days the ones I know don’t like to be out in the fresh air for to long or are just whoppers, at least I’ve got little Hugo to show him the ways of the world, even if he’s going through his I’m going to be a little sod, just because I want to be phase ?

Hey you lot get a bird book.  It is highly unlikely they're crows that your shooting.  Generally when bloke posts that they have shot X dozen crows they are mistaken.  They've been shooting jackdaws or rooks.  crows are reasonably solitary and they are a bloody great big thing in comparison to jackdaws with a murderous great beak.  AND if you don't know that I bet you aint got a copy of GL 36 in your pocket.
