With the parson type terriers they don't look daft when you strip back of the tail an trim them up. Because most of the time there tails are up 12 oclock right. Not like the small legged jack Russell. But saying that my old small bitch had pups and all pup's came out with short tail like they had been docked an that was because of the sir a dog called dilan he was born with a short tail so through back through the pups.

I've only ever owned one pure Parson's and as much as I like him he is the most difficult dog to live with I've owned in 45 years of dogs,I'm not sure if they all are similar.It's got that bad with him at times the mrs has threatened to leave if I didn't get rid of him,it would have been a sad day saying goodbye to her.

Seems as though you have a "special" one there Aussie Whip. A terrier that has the typical working terrier traits of drive, intelligence , energy and gameness but in excess of the normal ones. A terrier that will test you as much as you test it. Treasure it while you can, when those flames burn brightly, Sod's Law, they tend not to burn very long.

True, it's almost a full time job keeping him alive,the annoying things about him are the things I admire most.The thing you said about the brightest flames burning quickest made me a bit sad,something my mum said to me when my young brother died when we were young.I was the dumb cnt of the family, luckily for me, lol.

Also the trait of refusing to obey commands. I once thought that if a dog does not do what is asked then the fault is with the owner by failing to communicate to the dog. Dogs will do what they are told to do and are happy to do it once the owner/trainer manages to communicate. Which is true. It is so easy to train dogs, even those that others have gave up on. But there are some terriers that will never accept a man as their master and at best they will regard you as their best mate.  They have no fear of anything that walks this earth or lives in it and want to kill most of it. They are needed every once in a while to keep it going.

That's little Ted,I think he regards me as his assistant,when he caught the last huge brown snake for the Summer this year(despite my efforts to keep him clear of them) he left it chopped and paralysed with it's head still making striking motions,sauntered past me with a cocky,sideways glance of "you finish it now with the shovel".I did as commanded lol.It's his asshole,fearless but capable attitude that keeps him alive.I love this dog,and hate him lol.
