Hi,

I have just acquired some new permission which has a small pond on the edge of a wood. The pond is approx 20m x 8m and around 1 1/2 foot at its deepest. Just wondering if anyone has any advise of feeding and attracting ducks to get a couple of flight shoots throughout the season. As far as I know, it has never been shot or fed.

Any help much appreciated.

My first question is, have you seen duck on it and has it got clear space for the duck to come in high or will you have to clear a bit of timber, if you have see duck coming in then spend a bit of time watching where they come from, feed the edges with corn and a few spuds ?

The art of duck flighting is not to overdo it mate

When you say "overdo it" would that mean the amount of useless keepers you could drown in the time it takes to neck a fosters.

I havnt seen duck on the pond yet. There is a couple of pairs mallard On a beck that runs along the length of the wood. As for the space, I have cleared 4 or 5 large trees from the edge of the pond which has left a large opening in the canopy. You can just see the gap at the far end of the picture 820A1F59-AD99-4273-92C4-161B4B62C1A1.jpeg.bb3ae9719079f54a624d153ababd6b58.jpeg
