As someone said, I tend to go out to the local park early or late and avoid the majority of people.

Remember Trevor my old lurcher picking up a yorkie in the park once and retrieved it live to hand

Had a lurcher do that to the neighbours yorkie many moons ago unfortunately he hadn't a soft mouth and his retrieve was questionable at the best of times.
