Gaoler 83
Hi all, Has anyone used the M18+ 4-18x44 FFP with EMD2 scope from Falcon, looking for a no frills, solid, with quality optics scope and am told these scopes are excellent for their price? I have never had a FFP scope but am told they are good for hunting, any advice? Cheers... Quote Link to post
si brown 8,486
I’ve got pretty crap eyesight that reticle Is fine as f when you wind it out, couldn’t see it but if your after sturdy it fits the bill, it weighs a ton.. you could beat someone to death with it you might love it but I’d be looking about for a lighter one, there are others out there in a similar price range that I’d be looking at Quote Link to post
Gaoler 83
Thanks Si, which models? Quote Link to post

Gaoler 83
Do you think the FFP will be suitable for hunting, I normally shoot at 28 yards +, rabbits mainly and in low light, current scope sits at 6x magnification and don’t really move it? Quote Link to post

Personally I wouldn’t bother, I shoot all sorts of rifles and don’t own a ffp scope, put the money saved on a ffp on one with good glass.. I’ve got scopes that I use right up to last knockings! hawke endurance are a good last light air rifle scope but have a look through one before parting with ya brass Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
Not meaning to upset the Apple cart, but I did have a Falcon 4-18 FFP on my first gen 98. I thought it was mint myself. Got rid though. It was f’kin massive, turrets so big I used um on me mrs most weekends. But the ret was super, if a little complex for air guns, but quality wise, one of the best products I’ve bought. As mr brown sez, at 4 x the cross hair was ultra thin mind. Used it in a HFT comp to be fair too... sneaky tweek of the ring for range finding worked well too It was just it’s sheer size that eventually put me off. Basically your mounting a HW30 on top of your rifle 2 Quote Link to post
Gaoler 83
Scope arrived today, first impressions it is built like a tank! oozes quality to me!, the clicks on the turrets are nice and firm (sound good too) so it shouldn’t move in travel (I am worried whether or not it will fit in my gun slip). Haven’t mounted it yet, but had a play outside tonight focussing ect, I went to last light and the optics did a fabulous job, put my current scope to shame. Mounts arrive tomorrow so will put it on the rifle. My ignorance now, is there an idiots guide in setting such a scope up? Cheers... Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
FFP is a funny ol' thing but, good if you can get used to it. I can't really add any more comments about Falcon scopes that hasn't already been said. I've had a couple they are good quality but, they're heavy and solid. There's no real guide to setting up - put the scope and mounts on loose (not loose enough to fall off) and get your eye relief right. Then get the scope level - I do this with a spirit level on the dovetail and, line up the vertical crosshair on my back door frame as I know that's bob on. I then check by looking down through the crosshair through the back of the rifle to make sure that it does look central (if that makes sense). If it all looks ok, tighten up the scope clamps and, check the scope again. Then, set up a target and start shooting and, adjust your scope turrets until you're on target. Quote Link to post
Gaoler 83
Setting up and mounting the scope today. On a FFP scope when first setting the eye relief is it best to have the mag on higher so I can see all of the reticle, or minimum? Quote Link to post
Furrosious ferreter 499
On ful mag me looking at the sky on infinity on sidewheel. FF 1 Quote Link to post

Gaoler 83
Zeroed the scope yesterday, it was a pleasure to zero & did it in 4 shots, after putting about 50 pelletts through to lead the barrel up after cleaning. Used the Falcon Accuracy Plus in .22, they fly nice, travel quite flat too. Zeroed at 28 yards, then went out to 50 yards using the mildots. Set the scope at 14 times mag, the optics are so good at 14 times, I can count the hairs on the rabbits eye lids! 1 Quote Link to post
