Nothing to do with any of this but I was wondering if any of you lot are interested in old mechanical stuff, I love proper old engineering and I’ve never seen one of these before

it’s a 1940’s ( I think) Porsche 2 cylinder, air cooled diesel tractor. Where I was working today the shed is like an Aladdin’s cave, I was having a mooch to see if there was anything I could tap off him and he started tell me it hadn’t started for over 30 years and if I could get it running he’d give me 20 quid, he said they had played with it but couldn’t get it to start. After a quick look I noticed someone had fitted a none return in a fuel line the wrong way ( schoolboy error) swapped it around and a quick blast of brake cleaner in the air intake and away it went, true to his word 20 quid was mine, wish I’d said I’d do it as a job now, I would of taken him for a bit more than 20 quid

Well our first shoot of the year went well. It was cold but dry and a bit of sun appeared. Bag was 122 head comprising of 57 duck 56 pheasant 7 partridge and 2 pigeon. My own contribution wa

It’s been frosty the last couple of mornings, it’s very welcome , hopefully it will kill a few bugs . Unfortunately the Maize and cover crops don’t like it and they will soon be unviable as a drive .

There is a pheasant that has got all territorial near my feed shed . He comes and attacks me , I’ve given him a taste of my size 11 Le chameau’s , but it just makes him all the madder  . It’s him or me , who’s going to be the boss ?

by the way he’s eyeing you up, think we all know who the boss is ?

Would you say stav the old tractor is worth a few Bob .

don’t think I ever seen one like that befor

I’ve just had a look at them and there’s a few for sale, in the condition it’s in I’d say it’s worth between 6 and 8 grand, fully restored they are upwards of 25k

another thing is it says the 2 cylinder engine is 22hp with that kind of power you would be better off with a horse

Get the caller out SL , on pheasant that would really piss him off

All joking aside , some get really savage , and hit you with their spurs and like sausage said they draw blood . This one hit the back of my thigh and drew blood . And flew at my face . I’ve given pheasants a bit of a beat down to make them wary of you , but it’s difficult because I don’t really want to hurt it .

No shooting here, the place is like a zoo, along with the race horses there’s alpaca, sheep, goats, donkeys, some posh looking chickens and guinea fowl, a couple of years ago we put a pond in for him that you can row a boat around, when I pulled in today they must of been 50 ducks on it, my mate has been on at him most of the day to have an evening on the pond, but he’s having none of it, saying his shooting days are over and he likes to just watch them now ?

So stav can you renovate that one

I have a plan ?

I think it’s a bit beyond me, I’m much more of a big spanner’s and hammers kind of fella, if it doesn’t work when you hit it the first time, hit it again but harder, making things look pretty has never been my strong point ?
