On arrival at the ground the bloody clouds disappeared, the moon came out and it was like daylight with not a breath of wind. Not many rabbits about , no wonder anyway plodded on and couldn't believe I ended up with 10. Bert wont go hungry tomorrow I was in a similar situation, went back to the sheep farm on the hunt for another monster fox, got there, nice and cloudy, walking around, plenty of stuff about, rabbits, roe, hares and pigs, got to where I wanted to be and the clouds cleared and almost everything disappeared, so called it a night and shot half a dozen rabbits on the way back to the car, I was almost disappointed when this 100+ yarder’s head was still attached 2 3 Quote Link to post
Sausagedog 7,381
Went out first light to hunt for a bird to cook when I happened on a roe buck feeding towards me. He came down to 15yds and I didn't have my good camera . Anyway, he was that close I could hear him eating! 7 Quote Link to post

It became a half day but enjoyable the same . 6 guns 5 beaters only 14 birds but too still. No real wind to lift them and a couple disappeared into thick scrub. A good craic at nosh time and the lockdown stomach to a punishment 6 Quote Link to post

Stavross 15,444
Back to the shoot yesterday and it’s looking good, fingers crossed the birds will be ready by the 6th, something has wrecked a bird not far from Gordon’s pen, leaving a pile of feathers and what’s left of a drumstick 2 Quote Link to post
