Back up at the shoot

Recommended Posts

Getting to the shoot this morning and finding it clear was a bit of a shock considering what I drove through to get there, it was late morning before the snow started, only lightly to begin with, but it wasn’t long before things started to turn white. Well we knocked it on the head early today, the birds were sitting very tight you could almost stand on them before they moved. We still got a bit of shooting but once the snow started coming down heavy they would not fly, one bird broke cover, got up into the snow and couldn’t fly in it, hit a couple of trees and helicoptered back to the ground, with the snow coming down as heavy as it was it was time to get off home as it’s very easy to get stuck up there in the snow

Well our first shoot of the year went well. It was cold but dry and a bit of sun appeared. Bag was 122 head comprising of 57 duck 56 pheasant 7 partridge and 2 pigeon. My own contribution wa

It’s been frosty the last couple of mornings, it’s very welcome , hopefully it will kill a few bugs . Unfortunately the Maize and cover crops don’t like it and they will soon be unviable as a drive .

Snowing really heavy here now , having great fun watching the idiots not slowing down and sliding around the bend and bouncing off the kerb ??? just waiting for the 1st accident ?♿

Just rain here now, but it’s still falling as snow up at the shoot. The roads were really bad on the way back, the A19 was down to one lane

There was a couple of abandoned cars, when I came down off the top the snow was getting deep, yet there was still a load of people at the top of Sutton bank playing in the snow, I bet there’s a few can’t get the cars off the top tonight

I went out squirrelling too ? again didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised. Snow all gone and a decent day with a few hail showers. Finished with 12 only missing 1 so not too shabby. One squirrel ran into a hole in the tree but was peeping out thinking I couldn't see it ,it soon got no 6 shot in the face ?
