Sausagedog 7,381
That little tractor would be good on a small shoot! And youd stay drier than on a quad! And be cheaper to run! Quote Link to post

Gav 1,708
I gave my 1961 dexta away this year, it seriously needed new back wheels and tyres and at £450 a chuck, £1,800 was more than double what it was worth itself 1 Quote Link to post

FOXHUNTER 5,021
Sick of sitting in so popped up the farm to do some bunny bashing . Decided to do the ground which runs up to the grouse moor as haven't done it yet as on the lower ground they are getting sparse and jumpy. On the hike up the hill I could hear lots of shots going off and deduced it was the keepers shooting rabbits with shotguns. Anyway the rabbits up the there were very jumpy , no wonder with quads flying about and shots going off all over , it was like the Alamo. I eventually bumped into one of the young keepers who came to see who I was , had a bit craic with him and it turns out there were 6 keepers out on quads . They have shot 5000 rabbits so far He was telling me about the new doc traps for stoats saying they were rubbish as he normally traps around 100- 120 stoats using fenns but now using docs he's only trapped about 10. Anyway I left him to his banging and I headed back down the hill ending up with 25 rabbits. 2 1 Quote Link to post

Before I took the shoot on as keeper I used to help the old keeper . He wasn’t much for killing stuff so rabbits had built up in numbers to almost plague proportions. He got me to shotgun off the back of the pickup while he drove and lamped . It was carnage , I could hardly load fast enough in some fields , it was almost like an arcade game . We didn’t pick them up as it slowed things down too much . There were literally dead rabbits everywhere. The bosses mother who walked her dogs through some of the fields said to the keeper “ Andrew , are you picking up these rabbit you are shooting at night ?” “Why”? “Because my Labrador has just vomited up a whole rabbit on the kitchen floor . “ 5 Quote Link to post
