bit o' rabbiting

Recommended Posts

I was asked a little while ago by a friend to sort a few rabbits out at his nursery... I had been trying to get down there for a few weeks, but finally managed this afternoon... We arrived at about 2.00, and were shown the boundaries, then headed off... I had an experienced hob who is a "hardcore" killer, often catches at the mouth of the hole, and one of the new inexperienced jills i got recently... the warrens were in a row on the edge of a small copse/wood... they varied between 2-10 holes... I gave the jill a go in the first few, but she seemed reluctant... never mind her time'll come...I swappwed over to the hob... and we were away... first rabbit semi-bolted from a little 3 holer, with the hob attatched... the next came at the base of a tree, 2 holes ferret in wait... rabbit shows at each net with ferret firmly attatched again... managed to reach in and pull the ferret out, then trenched forward a little and managed to draw a pretty much dead rabbit... 4.10 time for home... plenty more there for next time...
