Stabs 3
Went out his morning for a bit of a shoot and I have to say the going was slow. I had spent about 3 hours and had shot f**k all. I was boring myself and decided to have a slow walk back to the motor. A couple of things presented themselves..... I got back to the motor with no real action and as I was driving off the property I nearly had a cornary! Running towards me was what looked like a really healthy fox being chased by a mangey but big fox. The mangey f****r stopped and ran off, but the healthy one kept going and ran past me. I followed in the Land Rover and the fox jumped into a stream, swam to the opposite bank and ran off. I obeyed the law and let my two terriers out of the boot at the point where the fox jumped and we were on! Or more to the point, one of them was on, as the old f****r doesn't like getting his feet wet so he stayed with me. Just goes to show the disadvantages of a dog that doesn't like water! Bloody poof! Anyway, the bitch came back soaking wet and empty handed so I thought I'd drive to the nearest bridge and have a proper look around with the shotgun. No sooner had a opened the boot than we were on proper style! I've never seen such a beautiful fox! Jet black ears and in full bloom! He was a big b*****d as well as being handsome! He weighed in at just shy of 17lbs and he really was a fine specimen! One of the best I've taken on this farm, Quote Link to post
cragman 2,769
Good post Stabs. They start to look good around this time of the year, especially the dog foxes. Quite formidable looking. Quote Link to post

Guest Dillon
Some nice photography there Stabs, Good looking fox too with a good weight, Last year I weighed all my foxes believing the heaviest to be 24 lbs. We scored a week last Sunday and I weighed the critter on the land, it came in at 21lbs, this just isn't right I thought as although a healthy vixen it didn't seem that big, I bagged it and took it back to weigh on some other scales and found it to be 16lbs, the scales have been five lb out and I didn't realise, need to cut down on the herb Good work mate Quote Link to post

I've picked a few up over the years and thought they'd been 20lb plus only to weigh them and find them way short. I have had a 20lb+ dog fox but that was a few years back. Even with that one on Sunday I picked it up and thought it was a definite 20 odd animal. Just goes to show how bad my judgement is As for you Darcy....you'll keep :11: Quote Link to post
