With a maiden bitch the most surefire way to breed to guarantee pups is to breed her the first day she stands still for the dog and then every other day or every third day until she stops standing. If you then count 63 days backward from the date the pups are born you will have the day she ovulated; most bitches are fairly consistent on this from cycle to cycle and if you breed her again you will want to breed as close to the day of ovulation as possible.

Most bitches will stand two or three days before ovulation; the eggs will be ready for fertilization about 72 hours after ovulation. If you breed her on the first day she stands and again four days later, her chances of conception are as good as it gets.

BTW, some people will tell you to watch the color of her discharge to decide when to breed. That's got nothing to do with nothing. Watch her behavior and unless she's very deviant from the norm you can't go wrong.

she will start to bleed a bit and her vulva will swell, from day 9-14 she will allow a dog to mate her, it will be pretty obviouse as she will stand for the dog and put her tail to the side and will also taunt him telling him she is ready, after this she will probably bleed slightly for up to another week. this is the norm but appreciate some bitches may vary slightly.
