Dervburner 2,549
Well I clean my hmr when accuracy goes off a bit and it still shoots as well as it ever did. Two other people I know cleaned there’s religiously after every outing. One of them ended up buying a new barrel for his quad, the other scrapped his rifle and bought a new tikka hmr because his was knackered too. I spent less time cleaning and less money replacing. That’s all I know. What I know for sure is that my system works for me and my rifle. Each to their own. 2 Quote Link to post

Don’t know if you’ve seen a bore snake sd but they have about an inch of bronze about four inch from the start of the snake/ bootlace.. I’ve got a fancy one pice rod and all the gubbins for cleaning but when I used the .223 it was loads easier just to pull through a couple of times cos when I get in late I can’t be arsed fathing about and I’m out early on a morning! ive put loads through my sweed and only ever used the bore snake and it’s bang on the money Everytime I pick it up 5 Quote Link to post
philpot 5,035
I have used the bore snake on all my shotguns to good effect and have been toying with one for my tikka .22lr and my CZ wmr. I guess I would use the Garlands solvent cleaner with it as well. Phil Quote Link to post

Phil Just a pull through with a bore snake to remove moisture/residue until next time can’t be a bad thing, unnecessarily scrubbing out every time I’m not so sure if it’s a good thing. I’d think probably not. Quote Link to post
FLATTOP 4,545
I use this stuff apparently it’s quite popular in the USA, I soak my bore snake in it and pull through about 3 times it cleans it really well I only do this 2/3 times a year maximum, and if you read ant the bottom of the pot it says it removes copper and all other nasties. And that is in about 12 years of mouse gun ownership same gun CZ 452 .17 Varmint Barrel. 1 Quote Link to post
