Scouser - Coursing Dog

Recommended Posts

Shouldn't be done ever but I've seen kickups tear the ass out of more than a few hounds ?

Ten to get going is the name of the game to be right ?

I always run with dog off a slip unless I see one clapped so that's a good question pal ?

Them off lead will get the odd kickup but for every one they do there will be four that's lifted at a thousand yards plus what they go on ?

It learns em to go up slow ?

Matching brings out the worst in man and dog to me hunting brings out the best with all respect to quarry and hound ?

I'm not saying all are like this but a lot of these modern videos on YouTube are full of kick-ups, is this the done thing now?

the thing with law is it has to vary, on a big fen if its sighted it goes, but on tight snagy places you cant do it, but I know what you mean.i don't like the ones that get dragged around for 5 mins and catch it in a ditch lol.

Hey when I was out mooching a kick-up was always fair game but these out and out hare dogs that have been filmed you would think they would be given law.

I'm not sure if the more recent videos are all of matches like but they are terrible slips imo.

That's not a knock on the dogs or anything but I think they should be tested more, they are all over the hare in seconds.

What do you hunt over there mate?

f**k all ? Unfortunately not had the land to and my dream of showing the coursing clubs here up... well fell apart didn't it. So I've done by him and kept him sharp. Doesn't take a keen mind to know a dog that belts down a mountain at full speed, over scree. Just to get a chance at a run, is a good one.

Only downside...... he's a cnut ?

Bless you Two crows that's one fine looking animal thanks for letting us see him ?

Toes out at the front and back legs out at the back I bet he had drive and could turn on a sixpence a proper sort imho ?

Do you know how he was bred he looks like Lou Edwards pure Trevor but a decade earlier glad you had the foresight to see what they offered to a running dog I didn't own any Saluki X's till seventy four and hare was something we did on a Sunday for sport they had to fill a bag same as I bet you did no doubt would love to know more about this one thanks again and biggest respect to you ?

he was owned by my wifes uncle, his ped name was caleb of xeros, (flash) his sire was spring barn sandpiper and dam Anastasia of daxlor ,his sire can be found in about all the saluki used in the coursing dogs of today, including prince, looking at the broken coat, here is a pick of bitch bred down from my old bitch by a Leicester man similar stamp, flash went to an bitch bred from imported parents that had been gifted by a Iraqi sheik to a English man.

Chubascos stands for Chbascos scoot which was the bitch that Paul had from America.  Juckler was right, the America blood was not as good as the British blood

Ahhh...I see now....cheers for that..I had no clue what he meant...

Help Required as to ancestry /history of my saluki /Greyhound.
I have just lost my dog of a lifetime to cancer, she was 11/12 yrs old.I am truly heartbroken.
I'm not a hunter, but have always loved sight hounds in particular salukis.
My dog Fern was a very distinguishable sighthound ,her colouring alone a mutated dilute. Was quite a show stopper. I'd have people literally stopping cars to ask what she was as she held herself well and looked awesome.
She was Steel and tan with a white butterfly on chest. White tips on feet.
      Fur like velvet and shone.
      A glamourous looking dog.
She passed through I believe 5 lurcher men before coming to me age around 4 yrs.
      I had her 8 yrs.
I have  sketchy details of her young life and know she was initially used as a racing dog and then a lampers dog. Until she hurt her spine and broke a toe.
Fern was born around 2009,lived in North East England (Northumberland).
I believe she had two litters of puppies (do you have one?)
Lived Winlaton, Mickley,Prudhoe , Ryton, Greenside, Horsley.
I believe her father (sire) may of being khan jihad.
I believe her mother (dam) was a steel greyhound and was a Irish coursing champion.
Does anyone know who that might be?
      Who bred Fern?
Does her heritage fit time scale wise?
I would dearly love to know as I said, totally in bits at her loss.
I just want to try and recreate her or seek out someone who might be able too from same lineage.
Whilst I'm not a hunter, I turned Fern from huntress to helper in that I used her skills and abilities to bring deer out to me to photograph, as I'm a professional photographer. We were quite a team.
I just loved everything about that girl.
      Thanks for any help received.

What in your opinions would be the best thing to breed a deerhound/greyhound to but still looking to keep size and speed just something nice to throw into the mix or even more greyhound what do you lot think?...
      Cheers
