I've always thought to myself if  death is so bliss and we move on to a better place then why are we so fearful of death?

Our will to survive is much greater than any thoughts of the afterlife.

My Nan died in my arms at the age of 97, I,m not a religious person and I don’t fear death or have any preconceived idea,s, but that day I had a very very strange experience that made me think there may just be something else going on,??

My nan died this Christmas day with us all there, there was nothing to suggest there is something else going on.

Science says there's nothing, we are no different to any other living creature.

It's definitely a relief, my first real taste of death was my first lurcher. The poor dog had it's tongue hanging out while he was gasping for breath, we took him to the vets where he was put down. I balled my eyes out at saying goodbye but I was relieved at escaping the horror of seeing him struggling to breathe.

I would say that science doesn't sufficiently (at all?) understand human consciousness. So to conclusively say we know what happens to it after brain death leaves me a little uncomfortable tbh.

This topic is a bit like 'what came before the big bang' imo.

Not that I'm the spokesperson for Science, LOL. Just one fellas opinion.

But that would also have to include animals, they too have a conscious.

The smart money is that we develop a consciousness as a survival mechanism, why would we need it once we expire?

Incorrect

For starters I can't be certain about anything external to my own my mind so the fact your statement is external to me I cant guarantee it 100 % exist  and I cant even be certain about my own mind I could quite possibly be a simulation and what may seem like free will to me may just be script running on a computer for example. How would I know? ?
