There’s no such thing as General License in the Republic of Ireland, it’s a real pain in the arse.

They work to some weird EU directive

There have been a few magpies about and at least one has gained the knack of feeding off the bird table. I set a pop-up tent out as a hide and whilst waiting for a magpie a crow settled into a tree about 45 yds from the hide. Then all hell broke loose. Thec crow's partner started cawing loudly and performing fly-bys. At least three magpies gathered just out of safe shooting distance and a jay dropped by to see what all the fuss was about. I could have shot the jay, but waited for a better shot at the others that never came. As dusk fell I went out to the crow, lopped the wings off to use the feathers fro floats, and disposed of the rest. The other crow was calling until after dark. Then again at 6am on the dot he or she came flying over the garden calling and calling. Then the maggies seemed to give the garden a wide berth, but the other crow keeps coming back to the same tree so I might get lucky.

I once got two crows in two shots within about 3 seconds using a HW100. I was sitting under a shady tree with the dog waiting for a squirrel to come to the stream to drink when a pair of crows settled in the tree canopy right above my head. I could see their silhouettes through the leaves. I nailed one shooting through a leaf, re-loaded and got the second as it floated over a gap in the canopy. Can't do that with the Prosport though. It takes me longer to re-load than them at Rorke's Drift ?

I sold my  three proper guns before I moved out here. Just got an air rifle and air pistol now, both springers. And this afternoon one of the adult magpies discovered just how accurate the rifle is.

Careful now, you can easily get sucked into the realms of talking like you are Chris Kyle !
before you know what’s happened you will be slaying rabbits at 400 m with an HW100 !
