Popular Post Greb147 6,809
Bumped in to this fella a few years ago when I was working in Sheffield. I could see him struggling with his case and nobody had the decency to help him out. I went over and asked him if I can carry his case for him to the bus stop. On the walk I got nattering to him and it turns out he was going to France for some sort of memorial. He was part of the Normandy Landings, God bless him. I hope the legend is still going strong, he will be at least 100 now. Edited May 8, 2020 by Greb147 22

Lol Its a fact that many of the colonials distinguished themselves fighting for Britain, the Indian brigades lost an awful lot of lives on the front line and as was their tradition fought bravely.
WILF 47,497
Seeing as we held sway over 412 Million people at the time I’m sure there was more than a few colonials fighting. My point is, why do we need reminded all the time. Watch any film from the time and you can clearly see these tiny isles managed to endure the biggest conflagration in the history of man kind and walk out the other side victorious and civilised with absolutely zero input from these people in our society........fast forward 75 years and we are in shit order.......and there’s a massive common denominator. I don’t think anyone can seriously argue that these people have improved and enriched our native British society and how we behave in that space of time......quiet the opposite in fact. Hence, why do we need to keep being told what a “great” contribution they made ? They fought in the war, bravely, millions of men did.......and ? If you're going down that route then why celebrate it at all? Look it at it like this, they were in a war fighting "our" fight not theirs.
