Kye 77
Up at five this morning, and headed to a good spot about an hour from the house... Had Tor and Blister with me, both raring to go...Jumped the first, but came unsighted after 200 yards...got the dogs blood up though..lol. Second one, both dogs sighted, jumped roughly 40 yards ahead of them,...Tor being younger (and slightly less fit) was about 60 yards behind Blister at the end of the race...she has lots of heart, but until i get her fitter, im gonna keep her off the daylight Jack rabbits (Hares).. anyway, i knew this hare was in trouble, because Blister had boxed him out of the cover three times, and was right on it...even had the hare squealing before he struck!...always a good sign! The hare got to the heavy sage, but to late...Blisters head went down, and the noise of a good conection filled the air...buy that time Tor had arrived, and i was frightend that they could break it up and ruin any retreaving training that they have had...i couldnt have been more wrong!..lol. I even got it on cam-corder, they BOTH carried it back, heads held high!...couldnt have been more proud. Stood there ten minutes to let them get there toungs back in there heads, then off for another! Another gets up, this time a good 60 yards away...both are on it, but its gets to the sage...Blister (being more exsperianced) stayed on it, but Tor came unsighted...On her way back, Tor flushed another and ran that, but it went straight for cover, giving her a small chase of just about 60 yards...got her leashed up. Stood there for five minutes....called twice, and Blister comes walking back, then as he gets about 300 yards away, i can see he has a Hare in his mouth!...Thats his FIRST one single handed!...I was jumping up and down, i was that happy!... In all honesty, i could have run him again, because five minutes later he was straining to go!...even had his tounge back in his head...but i decided to leave it at that...keep him keen!...roughly 18-19 months old, and fit as a fiddle...all them hours of road work, good exspensive food, rub downs, running out the back of the truck...all paid off know! Both are in kennels, belly full of hot food, sleeping soundly after a good rub down!... Kye,.. Quote Link to post

Kye 77
Hi Kane...it was around 50-55F...but the sun had only just come up...the heat plays a HUGE part in running the dogs here...you have to go out with HUGE amounts of water, so the dogs can drink, and to wet them down...its cooling down nice though know, so its getting better. Im gonna go run the dogs out the back of the truck soon...Blister is in fine condistion, but he has a few slight cuts on his wrists...they will be healed in a few days...i just dont want him to keep opening them up, coz they take a while to heal then!.. Kye.. Quote Link to post
Guest mush
I wonder how some of our coursing strains would do over there, has any one sent any over? how did they do? I know they do run saluki x's over there but we have generations of best to best hare dogs. Quote Link to post
Kye 77
Funny you should say that Mush,.. We should be getting a dog over here called "Rip"... He is out of "Rosie" which David Passmore (He had "Shrearer" and "Reefer" and "No-Tail") owns in Co.Durham..."Rosie" is out of "Cruise" and "Foxys" dam (Craig Nuttals bitch "Ueey" which produced some good dogs/bitches) and i think "Rips" sire is a old dog from down south named "Joe"... The dog has taken plenty of hares back home, pre ban...he should do well over here, he has bags of stamina,...will let you know how he goes! Kye,.. PS..Do you know any lads from the North East...i have a mate here from there who is asking!?.. Quote Link to post
