I did use a bit of cooked crispy chicken skin and got a result but I did try chocolate and blanked. My Mrs recons i'd do better with Cadburys Chopped Nut but she wont sacrifice any for me to try... EDDIE B 3,166
They look a decent trap. Seem a bit expensive mind, for a plastic rat trap. Quote Link to post

Very little neophobia displayed with them. 1 Quote Link to post
Pirate 9000 676
Just took delivery of 20 to try fcuk didn't think they would be that big, look well made all most feel sorry for the poor rat that touches that trigger, will try a few different baits and see which works best, will post any results Quote Link to post
stormyboy 1,352
I mostly use oats loose in the tray and make a marble sized bag of oats with boillie arma mesh on the trigger. Spray of aniseed, job done. 1 Quote Link to post
EDDIE B 3,166
Could that trigger system be modified to broaden the bait range that can be used with this trap I wonder? Quote Link to post
stormyboy 1,352
Keep the trigger bait small to ensure the rats head is under the kill bar. I've had them caught by the nose. Still dead. 1 Quote Link to post
DIDO.1 22,840
After getting off to a good start with them I failed yesterday. Put 2 under a bath where rats had been digging in, prior to digging out the soil pipe to fix. Used fog biscuits on the trigger, went back to find baits gone and traps unsprung Quote Link to post
Pirate 9000 676
Rats been having a field day under their, good luck in catching them they will slip up ,at least there not refusing the bait. Quote Link to post

DIDO.1 22,840
No it's just rats, plenty of fresh droppings. I'd dug out the soil pipe and fixed a fault but I think there must be another fault somewhere on the terrace as the neighbours are still having big issues. The soil under the bath is 50% rat droppings. The landlord is pulling the bath out to seal. That won't fix the issue but at least it might make the bathroom more pleasant for the tenant Quote Link to post

I did consider slugs because it's damp but in all honesty I think rats took em. I'd love time to try a different bait to answer the question but it's all being sealed tomorrow Quote Link to post
DIDO.1 22,840
Only just caught this ones nose. I am catching more rats on traps than I did with snap trap/break backs...100% 2 Quote Link to post
gnipper 6,484
Looks like it went off with a fair whack too. Quote Link to post
