Dervburner 2,549
Could I set up a .22 crown to run bisley magnums or similar at 40ft lbs or would that be pushing it too far without further modifications? Thanks for any replies Edit to say, would 40ft lbs be within its normal operating range, or would the new “power plenum‘ type impact be better for this set up? pav 481
Don't think you will get 40ftlb out box I can get about 36ftlb with 18grain jsb but mines a 500mm barrel you put a 6 or 700mm barrel and you will get the speeds you want iv got a 700mm impact 22 barrel and if I put it on with same settings as the JSB it goes to 1040fps you can't put a power plenum like impacts on one but you can get a bigger hole in barrel port and heavier hammer Weight what people use to get speeds up to shoot slugs hope this helps iv probably missed something out but I'm sure mitch will be along to give you his thoughts as he has crown aswell 1 Quote Link to post

villaman 9,983
Like pav said , out of the box 500 mm barrel will have it running @ 33 ftlbs . I have had mine tuned. With bigger hammer weight, reg bevels reconfigured, transfer port and pellet probe . With this set up a can push 23gr H&N slugs @ 42 ftlbs . Crown with slugs is unbelievable , shooting rabbits out to 120 yards and more with head shots , hit pigeons @ 85 yards they just fold and drop This gun gets used more than my impact .25 running @ 72 ftlbs . .22 impact with the new power plenum will probably give you 50 ftlbs without a tune , but you will have to check that out 1 Quote Link to post
Dervburner 2,549
Looks like the new impact is more versatile regarding power output. I did suspect this. Obviously can’t get either atm and I don’t know what imports, if any, will be coming in after the lockdown. I do know where there’s a new .22 impact with the power plenum locally, but I don’t know if I trust the shop if I need any after sales service. Quote Link to post

villaman 9,983
They might not be open to the public, but still having supplies coming in and online shopping and ordering, only phoned them the other day 1 Quote Link to post

It says they’re open for click and collect and they have plenty of fx’s in stock. The thing is that I wouldn’t be able to drive there to collect atm because it’s not essential travel. I’d also want to have a good look and handle a selection and also have a few shots on their indoor range before making a decision. I spoke to them before lockdown and they are willing to change barrels and calibres to get the rifle I want. It has to be .22, would a 600mm barrelled crown be too long? Might go for the latest impact though, not sure yet. Any information is much appreciated though. Many thanks. 1 Quote Link to post

If you have a impact then you can go with 700 barrel and still not to long . Imo I think you are going right with the .22 cal 1 Quote Link to post

Imo I think you are going right with the .22 cal To be very honest, I love my Impact in .25 and I do have a slot for a spaer barrel in .22 because I loved the .22 round in the Rapid fac I used to have. At 28fpe it was a cracker but I prefer to use the Impact so I sold the Rapid. I have not needed the .22 barrel BUT I would like one. Phil Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
.22 barrel in the impact with a H&N slug running @ 930 + FPS is one hell of killing machine if it’s anything like my crown 1 Quote Link to post
pav 481
Just got a 22 700mm barrel put it on impact and its shooting the JSB knockout slugs probably the best out of all the slugs iv used 3 Quote Link to post
