I haven’t heard of those to be honest .

I look into all sorts of projects,  but I constantly get sidetracked,  and end up doing something else instead.

How much time do you spend working in your woodland?. You certainly put some hard graft in.

There's a few online sellers of the hybrid willows with the details on them

I know what you mean mate lol, there's no end of interest, and there's only so much we can do at a time

I'm here at weekends, holidays, and sometimes travel up during the week after work to do an hour or three make best use of the light nights, just to get ahead a bit really, this plot is over 3 acres, and was planted up with a crop of Sitka spruce about 20 year ago, it's heavy in Birch, with quite a bit of Larch aswell so a lot of thinning to do, I'm still working on storm damage clearance aswell, I need to put a lot of time in to see any noticeable difference, but it's getting there

Your a grafter lpd an you love it lol

Whats the overall plan for the place, what will the forest be used for?

You wouldn't get far without graft in here mate lol

I'm restoring the place to more of a native Oak, Hazel, Rowan etc woodland, probably plant a few coppices for rotation, and try to improve the place best I can as I gain more knowledge, see how it goes

Here's a pic of a small section that I've left alone, the whole plot was like this when I started

It's a lot of hard graft getting to grips with it mate , but you're playing a blinder .  I wish I had your motivation ?.

I wish mine was a bit closer to home . If it was, I'd probably pop up after work.

It's surprising how far some people live away from their plots, one up here lives in the peak District, must be about a 400 mile round trip, and cheers, I'm just trying to get the bulk of the clearance work done while I can

We looked at a few plots of woodland in Devon.  It's a beautiful place , but I couldn't face that five hour drive .  My plot in Wales is 90 miles from home .  It takes me two and a half hours with my Mrs in the car , or two hours if I drive up there on my own .  I'll sometimes pop up just for the day , if I have a couple of small jobs to do.

Some of the land up in Scotland is fantastic value for money , but it's just way too far to travel .

I've looked at places with lakes in France (my own fishing lake is my dream) , and you can get some real bargains , but it's the travelling again ?.
