Making best use of the daylight hours mate, nights are drawing in a bit now, but it's hammock o'clock now

I keep fancying a hammock , but I've just never got around to getting one.

I've hardly seen my woodland this year . I'm trying to slowly work my way through the jobs at home 😔.

I'm not sure if I'd be brave enough to use one in winter 🥶🥶🥶.

What’s the long term plan/goal?

I'm removing the majority of the Sitka Spruce, and Larch to allow natural regeneration of the native species as this is a site of ancient woodland pre forestry planting, and am planning to plant a mixed edge of shrubs and smaller tree species on the east to west ride I've been clearing, hopefully plant up some Hazel and weaving willow coppices for rotation, maybe plant a few more Sweet Chestnut, then get back to learning and improving on my leatherwork, might try charcoal making, bee keeping etc see how it goes Mack

The bee keeping I wouldn’t mind trying, you could do bushcraft courses and stuff, there’s a market for it.

It's been popular for a while now all this bushcraft stuff, there was Northern Wilderness at Durham, but I think the woodland owners decided to take the woods back, I know there's a few knowledgeable people doing events, and species identification etc

Northern Wilderness was at finchale abbey right next to Sunderland,an incongruous setting for a wilderness school.

Folks use woodland for all sorts of stuff.  I did an introductory knife making course , at a woodland . The guy also ran short bushcraft courses( building shelters etc ).

When I did the knife making course , my hammer skills were much better than the guy that was running the course . I think it must have been my years working in garages , and learning to manipulate metal with a hammer 😁.
