Had a few days off this now but I've broken 2 pick axes and one mattock so far it's shite ground but will all be worth it in the end

What's your plan, finish ?Dig out an level off?. Even though the bank looks small, there's some amount of soil there

Digging back to the white wall in second pick to have a nice level area in the garden it's about 4ft higher at the top of the bank fair wack of soil to get out but going to riddle it all as there is so many rocks in it I am going to build a retaining wall and put a French drain in so use the rocks for that I'm hoping that will get rid of some of it I am bringing levels up in my front garden aswell to level that aswell also the top part of the garden has all dropped alot so can loose about 2 ton up there I reckon and probably best part of 2 ton out the front.

Looks fairly compact as well. Thats some amount of soil to plough through.  Wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to break it out first

Yeah it is and full of crap I've broken 2 pick handles on it so far and anything I don't use in the back garden has to be taken through the house along with the new turf and blocks all the mix for the concreat all through the house going  to be hell

That's sounds like a nightmare. 

It will be all worth it in the end.

There’s a lot of work to be done there saltmoon. Energy in the garden is always well spent energy I always reckon. My garden is simple to keep as it’s just lawn and patio but I enjoy being out there always.

That's all this will be is lawn and a small patio simple to keep its the getting there the problem but I'm in no rush for it we don't have the money to complete it all in one hit so it will be abit at a time but my wife is convinced it's not that much I've told her be ready by next summer

Oak sleepers will hold more soil back and look nicer than a block wall mate,set them upright and set them in a concrete footing and put a sleeper along the top so you can use it as a seat ,get into it and soften the edges with a flapper wheel on a grinder and it'll look the bollocks.Done a few raised beds,retaining walls and garden benches with oak sleepers and even done my fire place indoors at home with them,cheap at around £25-30 each and they last for 25+ years..

Just fitted some locks, cut some 3mm steel plates and fitted them down the edge of the doors to bolt onto for extra strength..

I'd do something with the hinges to .. weakest part of any door
