Knifebar 0
sorry i don`t know any places around there, but what are you going to use? i`m going to try a bit of pike fishing next week, never done much before so whats best to use this time of year, lures or dead bait? Hey I would use dead bait suspended from a float. A mackerel tail would be best, however if you can get your hands on some stinking cooking oil from a chip shop, inject it with a syringe into the mackerel. If you could find a good pike lake try to fish near a weeded area, although not many weeds this time of year. After about an hour if you have a second pike outfit, try using some pike spinners around your bait and even near the bottom. Some people also use pike plugs and retrieve them in a zig zag fashion. Hope this helps Knifebar Quote Link to post

J Darcy 5,871
Personally i would always float-leger a sardine where ever possible...and put plenty of sardine oil on it.....deadly! Quote Link to post
boris b 1
i had a few pike today , Nothing massive just jacks , they were all on lures . I am a fan of the storm range . Very life like and move well in the water . If you dont fancy lures try float fishing baits high up in the water ive had a lot of success with this method even better if you are allowed to livebait . Get the kit to make your own traces up it will cost you about £20 all in and will save you a lot of cash and let you knock up some nice set ups . Quote Link to post

AIRGUNNER 1
Just thought i would mention exeter canal the lower 2 miles are free to fish providing you have a EA licence and its proberly one of the best pike fishing venues in the south west. Then on the carp side of things its hard going but you could be rewarded with a carp thats never even seen a hook before or been banked, contact me if you need to know more information on getting your free permits. Edited for grammer. Edited January 18, 2008 by AIRGUNNER Quote Link to post
