I have worked a dog I’ve a dog right now but Ive never worked whippets I did I’m new enough to the sport but I’ve been working my dog for about 4 months now not a long time but I’ve still been well capable of bringing her on to be a good working dog. I wouldn’t breed off a dog any younger than 4 years actually so not a chance I’d have pups out a 2 year old bitch

Mate, I'm saying this with due respect ish. You've worked a dog, not a whippet, for four MONTHS, and you consider that is an appropriate amount of time for you to declare her to be a good working dog. Think about it mate, four months is a blink of an eye when it comes to working any dog. All lurchers, whippets etc, will take a couple of seasons really, before anyone could say 'they are a good worker.' What dog do have now, out of interest?

There wasn’t a bad thing said in my post In fact not one of ye anywhere near answered any of my questions or gave me advice ye all just concentrated on what I asked about breeding ye picked the one thing ye don’t like just to complain by The looks of it

Your first couple of posts, and your replies since, have been a tad, how shall I put it? Sketchy, dicey, risky?

No malice intended mate, just maybe curb your enthusiasm, and stay realistic. And yeah, whippets are indeed great little dogs ?

Don’t take this the wrong way mate, but sit down and read through your post. The world has enough folk already breeding and peddling dogs.

The only way you will own or breed anything of any working value is to take the money factor out of the equation.

There's no money in selling dogs.... And certainly no money in ferrets, they get given to good working homes round here?

Well in the 6 months I’ve trained her and the 4 months I’ve worked her she’s showing good potential to be a nice dog then, I’d imagine if you’d a dog after a year you’d know if she was decent or not?  she’s a bit small but fast and first dropper I had for her she smashed on the first turn, her mothers a full greyhound x staffy and her fathers a beagle x terrier, good dog for rabbits which is all I want her for hence my interest in whippets

If you are truly keen on whippets then there's a thread on here about non ped whippets. There's a wealth of knowledge on there and some dogs you could aspire to. Its a shit load of pages but well worth a read
