When I hear people asking for more government control over there life’s, it’s very sad and scary how quickly we have come to this point, your tune would be somewhat different if you happened to sneeze in a shop and got hit with a penalty which will happen the more of your rights you give away and your chance of appeal gets less and less the more control you ask for, you should think very carefully of the repercussions of such statements before making them ??

Spot on, you shouldn’t need government or shops to make you do something easy that potentially helpful to your nation.......it’s a standing joke over here about how English people can’t do without their rules and regulations and somebody telling them what to do.

Thats what happens when you breed out any affinity to your nation or your fellow man mate imho

Wearing a face mask is a different kettle of fish to downloading the test and trace app !

I wear a mask when shopping because it may, I'm not to sure, protect me, and it ain't really a big inconvenience.

But I sure as f**k don't want the authorities knowing my every move !

At first I kept forgetting my mask, but now I put it on almost automatically, bit like when the seat belt laws came in.

Im in the high risk group because of my age, so social distancing, washing my hands, wearing a mask may or may not save my life, but I'll do it just in case.

The police knowing my every move has nothing to do with protecting my health, but could end up with me getting an early morning knock, so I'll give it a miss, thank you !

Cheers.

I personally think the mask is being over egged & has become more like a comfort blanket or symbol of ‘doing something’, while trying to get away with everything else, rather than the great prevention it’s being sold as.

No mandatory or little mask use in Sweden

Mandatory & 100% mask use here in Belgium

.....but similar results, Belgium may even be worse off at the mo’....

At my kids village school they all line up closely with their masks on to pick up all their little ‘carriers’ that have mixed all day at school together, then repeat the process the next day in the morning. What exactly is the mask doing in this scenario I wonder? Apart from false reassurance we are actually ‘doing something’.

Meanwhile I heard this morning a new study on mask use is struggling to get published, I wonder what could be so controversial in it?

Should bring in a ten grand fine to the stores that allow people in without a face mask unless they have a later from the doctor to say other wise , im sure things will change sharpish

It’s a €750 fine here for the shop owner, at least that’s what my barber told me.....

Here shopkeepers are not allowed to challenge or ask you to put them on so would be a little bit harsh if you fined them for something they have no control over, I take it your shops can refuse service or challenge you for not conforming  ??

That’s a good point mate. They probably can here, but not sure. You certainly wouldn’t walk into anywhere here without one, you’d be strung up by the customers! ?. I haven’t seen a single person in a shop without one since July when made mandatory.

Here’s the thing lads in all seriousness, we are all blindly following all sorts of sick, stupid, twisted, freedom infringing rules every day......we mandate them, we accept them, we expect other people to accept them, we help the authorities directly or indirectly force other people to accept them.

And now......now something has shown up that effects everyone massive portions of society are crying their eyes out !
Feeling a bit of stupid, disproportionate, sinister government over reach ?......welcome to my world the last 25 years !
Put on a mask and deal with the other shit that REALLY affect your rights and freedoms !

I understand what you’re saying mate, I really do. I’ll happily wear a mask (I have to anyway) to avoid shutting stuff down, but unfortunately here they’ve just proven there’s no correlation between wearing masks & not shutting stuff down!

That’s without getting into types of masks........you seen many people with the N95 masks on that actually work? I think I can count the ones I’ve seen on one hand. Any old face covering will do as long as the rules are followed.

What about a conversation on the immune system & personal physical condition?

I might be sceptical about the measures being taken, but that don’t mean I’m not taking this virus serious enough to do all I can to boost mine & my family’s immune system going into winter. I feel encouraging people to do this is sadly lacking in the conversation & way too much faith put into a bit of cloth over your face IMO. That may sound selfish, but I can’t remember a time when we were collectively asked to feel selfish/guilty about spreading the flu that can also kill the elderly & vulnerable? Maybe we will in future though?

According to Dr Mike Yeadon, 2020 so far is coming out as 8th worst years for mortality rates out of the last 27 years In the U.K. But of course the year is not over yet, so make of that what you will.....

Hopefully in the new year there will be even more studies & information to go on to see what approaches are actually working or not ?
