That sounds absolutely horrific,  but we're very sheltered from death in this country .  To those people,  it's just the way it is I suppose.

sounds like alfresco norfolk fine dining to me

True that about us being sheltered from death

Isn't there tribes in Indonesia that mummifie there dead n keep them in there home n keep feeding n cleaning n cuddling them n then once buried dig them up once a year for ceremonies or something

I seem to remember one culture that smokes the dead to cure them , and keeps them on show . Again , that would seem insane to most of us , but cultures can be vastly different,  and full respect to them if it brings them comfort .

It's weird,  but I quite like the idea of a sky burial .

I saw one 30+ years ago in Tibet, visited a sky burial site in Bhutan 6 years ago but didn’t even find bones, the vultures had cleaned up.Also saw the parsee towers of silence in Karachi which are in trouble now due to pesticides causing a decline in vulture numbers. If your ever in Paris visit the catacombes and walk underground among six million skeletons.

the dough was about to be cooked, contains some ash from a cremated monk and a little ash from a burnt photo of him, river burial.

I think I had to spend $400 a day as a solo traveller? They are trying to keep the countries exclusivity so price it high to avoid it turning into Nepal with mass backpackers turning up,pretty snobby but Bhutan is like stepping back in time,I shall return.

I loved Nepal from the hussle n bustle of Kathmandu to the calmness n tranquility of pokhara to the amazing scenery of the trekking in the Mountains but like you say its sp touristy now isn't it so it makes sense what you say and I guess with you saying you would go to Bhutan again it was obviously worth you going.

I will have to look at a documentary on it again as haven't for quite a while but I remember hearing its quite special😉

Night and day compared to Nepal,Trek in Bhutan you’re going to bump into no one,Trek in Nepal even in places like mustang with its $500? extra trekking fee your going to be tripping over other hikers in high season,a victim of its own success.
