Meece 1,957
There is a simple thing that the great majority either have no knowledge of or overlook. No one make or model of gun is better than another make/model and this is the same with ammo. Every barrel is different. When shooters compete in the Olympics the barrels and guns aren't bought from Joe blog's shop. When the manufacturer churns out a batch of barrels they are checked and test shot. If a particular barrel shoots one hole groups that is put to one side for selected shooting for trials with different types of target ammo. If it shoots one hole groups with say Lapua, the that barrel would go to a shooter that is contracted to shoot Lapua ammo. A few years ago a local shot who shot for England would receive probably six guns at one go. He would come to the 50 mtr outdoor range in the summer for the day and just shoot. He might shoot a thousand rounds in one session. Finding a barrel / stock, sights combinations. I remember him shooting a rifle with a scope on it. He just put up a card backwards so it was a white sheet. Flies were attracted to it. A fly would land, he would fire the fly dissapeared and there was a bullet hole. I've known 3 different 222's which were supremely accurate but not with the same brand of ammo. All three would put five shots inside a 20p piece at 100 paces but if shot with a different brand or type were a bit random. One shot 50 grn Winchester, another wanted Federal and the third 50 grn Sierra blitz with 4198 or Nozler bt with RE12. The blitz would take magpies to a puff of feathers at 200 paces consistently. SO just because this round works in this gun, don't think that it will be the same in another. I like RWS. My 22 sporter is an old BSA which has been greatly modified and shoots RWS subsonic VERY WELL. as long as I have this round I don't plan getting another gun. I don't look on my guns as a fashion accessory. One shot one kill. Edit. this is where the advantage of careful reloading for centerfires comes in to match a bullet, powder, speed. But as in everything a lot of the performance is down to the person shooting the gun. Simple. Edited March 17, 2020 by Meece 1 Quote Link to post

As far as I know, they have 4 types of wmr ammo unless something has changed in the past few weeks. Phil Be a bit careful over the federal 50grn. The last ones I bought, all 200 of them had combustion issues. The velocity was up and down. They fill a moderator with powder that then catches fire! Shame really. They are good if you want deep penetration. I won't bother again though. 1 Quote Link to post
