Stav and Deker?

Recommended Posts

Where is Stav? Ben? Thought Ben was about to tell us how he has gone on with his new rifle/s.

Good to see Deker is still alive. I live not far from Radway green and have done some work there off and on over three decades. Boy that place has been run down! Think they just do 5.56 & 20-30mm practice ammo now. (?).

The CZ is shooting better off hand now which I am pleased about.

The above photo is a Winchester hphp recovered from the turf. How a bullet should look.

Any how. Hope you're all okay.

Good expansion although personally I'd rather it was recovered from a body shot than the earth or skull simply because the real test of expansion is on soft tissue. Everyone knows to expect expansion if you hit something hard. If I drive a car into a wall I'll flatten the nose. That's not where you need the expansion! It's in the soft tissue. Yes I know you can still hit ribs and bias the result. However, it's the best test this side of something like a dedicated Paul Harrell flesh test.

It's brains were spread all over the grass and the top of its skull missing...that ok for you?

Yep but if you get no expansion in soft tissue then the bullet isn't expanding properly and eventually that may result in a wounding. I appreciate the expansion above is textbook. It also occurred after the bullet passed through the rabbit and into the hillside. 6 inch of soil is more than enough to cause it to expand. I would be happier to see a great example of Winchester expansion after the bullet is pulled from soft tissue. That way we know it's the bullet performing as intended and not a helping hand from a hill side. Either way, it's a textbook photo of what a RF bullet should look like and that's why I gave it a thumbs up. I'm just not racing out to buy Winchester HP just yet on this recommendation alone.
