NV sort out and replacement.

Recommended Posts

As some of you are well aware that I have been a strong follower of the NiteSite system despite how much Mitch hates them, they have worked well for me.  Now with all this market movement towards the Pard units, it has really made me think about joining the ever increasing numbers of Pard owners.

Now again as you are aware that I am an aging ole tart who has to be careful what I do with my limited dosh soooooooooo it had to be the right product.  Now my buddy has two 008, one 019 and an 007 so plenty to play with.  I am not so keen on the 008 to be honest but I think that is just me not getting on with the image quality  but my pal said he was not going to use the 007 and sold it to me.

Hmmm, scope move a fair way forward to accomodate the 007 but not so far that it cannot be used when the pard is not in use. Okay I got there but in all honesty, I cannot say it was comfortable in either aspect but quite doable.  My Nitesite rangefinder was rubbish on the pard some some reason and I met another guy who said exactly the same but works really well on the Nitesite units that I have, a bit of a puzzle and annoying to say the least.   Moving on, my pal who I got the 007 from has had an issue with an 008 so I let him buy back the 007 to use on his scope but he decided to get a new Hawke Airmax Compact to keep both the weight and size down and this works really well.

So now my plans for going the Pard route are not quite as I thought, in the meantime my pal replaced his Nitesite front unit as he had broken it and in fact upgraded the lamp/screen unit for an R-Tec which has the dimmable screen. I borrowed it to test, fantastic, the screen can go to almost nothing at all but still offers good a clear eye shine image.  Well the image is far better for me than the Pard so I decided to replace my well used Wolf for what used to be call the R-Tec Wolf but now the R-Tec name has been dropped along with the price so not great for many people but for me, I still like them so the new Wolf should drop on my door step tomorrow just about when we get back from storm torn Anglesey.

In my eyes the screen system still does a good job and for panning an area / shooting rats around a farm yard, the Nitesite is by far the best IMO and further afield, well I have never had an issue so now with the dimmable screen, camera focus wheel, recording and bloody good image quality, it may well get a few negative comments but it pleases me and that is all that counts.

Is it the dark ops model Phil?

No, they are listed as 300mts range but you will not reach that far or anything like it and a stupid price tag.  I have used the standard 850nan lights for about 5 years with no real issues and to be honest I rarely scare the rabbits unless they see my face which will scare them in daylight ?
