THE STIFFMEISTER 15,873
I always think a dog will be uncomfortable on it so I used to bail hay on top of it , swept out weekly wasn’t too bad lined my ferret court with it As well. Kept them nice and neat 1 Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
Even horses get straw on top of that stuff. Seems a bit harsh for a dog as there's nothing for it to curl into or make a nest. Never mind heat lamps, dogs need to snuggle down into a bed, and not only for the warmth and comfort. Psychologically they are better off being able to arrange their own bedding as they see fit. I remember someone telling me that Brian Plummer used to have nothing but a board at the back of the kennel for his dogs to use as a bed. Smacks of laziness to me. 5 Quote Link to post

If u place blankets , carpet etc on top they ll drag em off . Quote Link to post

I agree , but dogs curl up to get warm. Watch a dog in the sun or in the house they stretch out . On the raised beds under the heat lamps the lurchers lay on their backs or sides stretched out never tucked up. Quote Link to post
