Best way for some types but not all , I find the coursing bred jooks and whippet bred can be started a lot younger than some types .where as a deerhound x or bedlington grey ,and herder types can be totally ruined by being slipped on something that's going to frustrate its young mind when it as no chance of a catch ,also the strain on a body not yet big anufe to cope with run after run . So can b the quick way to destroy a good jook and end up on fb as world beater in a raffle !!!

So starting them early isn't always the right way ,

but it's always good when your young sapling bring back some fur .

Iv never ran deerhound or herder crosses but I all way found in the few beddy crosses i had were early starters I have had not beddy whippet and beddy greyhound and both where very early starters the beddy whippet had tackled every thing by 12 month old and still to this day that dog was one of the best all round dogs iv ever seen

Same as mate and I think it as a lot to do with how we start them and the man doing the slipping .

i keep bedy xs and mine don't yap but I see plenty that did in the past from the very best breeding .

You can not beat a good beddy cross if you get the right one ..myn would take any thing teeth big deer any thing ...and ye right it's how you bring them on some people chuck them in at the deep end and it fooks most of them ....I like to have them out mooching and seeing a few bits of kills with older dogs and I think you can tell with a dog when it's ready with how the dog goses on when he or she is out..... like I have had pups out the same litter and some have come on a lot fast so I will just put them away to mature I can all ways tell when a dog is ready
