finny 0
A friend who has since passed gave me this cartridge with the instructions "don't use it " and I have become more and more curious about it but have no idea about it or where I could get information about it. It is a 12 gauge cartridge sort of purplish in colour made from: cardboard ? or whatever they used pre-plastic. It has the following printed on it ; Hand loaded AA , Smokeless, gastight, & on the body is printed : "midlands gun Birmingham " ( I think as it's a bit faded ),"hand loaded","smokeless gastight" and rather unusally "sudden death" Any info. or comments would be greatly appreciated , finny. Guest Macnas
AA is the shot size, which is a little smaller than BB. As to the rest, it's a cartridge either loaded by, or for the Midlands gun company. Cartridges used to have all sorts of fanciful names in the early to mid part of the last century, we're just used to tamer sounding titles like Grand Prix and alphamax. Sudden death is a good one though. There is a fellow who does an old cartridge review every month in the Shooting Gazette, if you want to know more you can contact him. Quote Link to post
