Heaps of dog breeds are game as are a lot of wild animals but I think gameness is over rated in a way. Everything needs brains and skill to achieve the task whether it's winning a fight or hunting.Dead gameness that is often spoken about can't be bred for because the animal has to die to prove it. Deep gameness is all you can breed from in the hope of getting a terminal dead game animal.

There’s nothing that says an intelligent dog can’t be game also. And a truly dead game dogs are extremely rare even if gameness was the only trait being bred for and any dog who didn’t have that trait was never used for breeding. I agree In a sense when you say dead gameness can’t be bred for i wouldn’t necessarily say can’t be as dogs who have proven to be dead game have been bred to it was just before you knew they were dead game. And every dog can only take so much. There’s the expression “ was just taken to the well one to many times”. 99.9% of dogs will quit with enough pressure put on them some people take that to to mean that by saying that would essentially mean every dog is a cur then. But that’s not what it mean at all there dogs not machines. Then there is another one which is 100% at leas that’s I feel and that’s every dogs can be made to quit every single one. Both of the sayings are two very different things. To make a dog quit is something that no normal person would even try to do because besides being an extremely stupid thing to do and just plain cruel there is also no point of it. One thing that people learn over time is being able to know when to retire a dog. A dog could have had just one long hard hunt and that definitely takes a lot out of most dogs and most only have one of those in them.

Im nowhere near an expert on gamedogs but surely if you breed from a family known for a certain quality, say gameness then some of that quality will be passed on to some of the offspring, do we not add collie to greyhounda to increase intelligence, as I say Im far from an expert on bulldogs but Im sure different families are sometimes crossed to hopefully add something

Yep that's true, be that for gameness, mouth, wind etc...

The trait must have shown up in dogs hundreds if not thousands of years ago.

I mean just imagine trying to create a game breed starting from scratch with no bull blood involved.

We have, every dog breed on this planet has been genetically engineered to suit our needs, from Chihuahau to Great Dane and everything in between...?

Of course we have but you would never be able to recreate deep gameness like that so easily and so fast.

The trait had to be there in the first place, I guess the theory is quite simple. You would pick the dog out of a litter that shows this trait more than the litter mates and so and so on.

Why not, did our ancestors have some magical knowledge about breeding thats been lost to us

No but it's clearly not as easy as that or else all breeders, be that of apbt or working terriers would all have first rate dogs.

I live from Massachusetts. Grandfather father was from Oklahoma moved this family to Massachusetts around the 1960’s. I’m not sure if not writing like an American is a good thing or not lol

Seriously lol this coming from the same guy who was getting pissed at people for assuming things about him that didn’t know a damn thing about what he has or hasn’t done. You’re a real peach brother

Never even set foot anywhere in the UK in my life. I still don’t know what the difference is between Great Britain and The UK if they are the same thing or different. I’m American born and raised wouldn’t want it any other way either

Are you for real. Honestly shut up. Just from the stuff you’ve said I’ve the last couple days it ain’t hard to see you like to talk a whole lot of shit about stuff you really got not reason to be saying anything about at all. Do yourself and take step back before you step over a line that where you can’t cross back

Not if it's BS lol.

Not a clue what about. To be able to tell what country i live in from posts that are a paragraph or two long is definitely a rare talent. You gotta teach me how to that I bet it’s big hit with the ladies. Listen bro you gonna believe whatever you want to and nothing I say is going to change that. But I can tell you right every word I’ve wrote is the straight up truth. It’s a good thing that you believing what I say does mean a damn thing and it damn sure won’t  change the things that have already been done and are well known by the ones who should

Clearly you got reading comprehension issues since i never said that. I said the exact same thing as i did today grandfather was from Oklahoma and around the 1960’s in his mid 30’s or so moved to Massachusetts with his family. So next time you think you got it all figured out you should take a deep breath go back and make sure. Smart ass
