Thanks Mr. Apache I will let you know in 2 or 3 seasons if he works for me I have bred strictly for myself.Digging dogs in Dixie is as rare as elephant hunting dogs in England.I do have peddlers around me but no diggers.Dmason to the north A.Scott to the east.My current stud is producing those ears. His best second season son has donkey ears lol.By my estimate all of mine will be prick eared in 5-10 years.Honestly I feel I have had no input on the looks of my terriers.I bred the one s that could swim a creek stay till dug whoop a coon and chase an otter until bottled up.I didn't realize they were ugly until my wife told me lol. 4 2 Quote Link to post

And I've no doubt that if your good lady comes out with you next time you're in the field, she'll find them just as handsome as you do too Enjoy it mate 3 Quote Link to post

Handsome is as handsome does. A cliche often quoted but no less true for it. Actually a bonny terrier anyway. It's odd what people like. Prick eared never been popular with working terrier breeders of course but some show breeds that require it occasionally mature to be drop eared, much to their breeders annoyance and panic. 4 Quote Link to post
Rickshaw swami 4,123
Thanks East coast I had never thought about the ears that way. There was a big name breeder in jags who moved from Eastern Europe to the country to the north of me.He drove 2 days south to hog hunt with us.He brought a certified dog in jags. When he arrived and seen my father's jags he immediately said my father should not have bred from his stud because the ears were too short. We took him hog hunting my dad's old stud run a hog for 2 hours until it crossed the river during this time the big name guys world famous jag was by his owners side. But his ears was of correct length. 8 1 5 Quote Link to post

Rickshaw swami 4,123
I received a text yesterday from the only other person who has terriers from my original stud. They have a grandson of his who is one year old and a pain in their ass so they called and offered him to me.I quickly accepted as they have a fine line of working terriers. They are driving south 5 hours one way and I'm driving 5 hours north one way.No money will exchange hands even though they could have sold the terrier easily.I don't know many in the terriers in USA.But I know one of the best in my opinion. If more Americans conducted theirselves this way we might could produce a decent terrier in this country. I will remain eternally grateful to this person as they have set the bar high for how working terriers should be done. 15 2 Quote Link to post
