Its about 5inches wide That's turned out well mate, looks well moulded Do you ever buy from Metropolitan leather ?, I was looking on their website earlier on, and they have some decent reviews
jeemes 4,484
YES i have used them mate. Very good online service. Ive had a few bits of leather which was all good and their own top coat is good. Though Abbey are better for tools I think. What thread do you normally use for hand stitching?

Their bridle looks reasonably priced, I've been using the waxed poly thread from le prevo, it's heavy stuff 1mm I think
jeemes 4,484
I saw a collar by a well known bloke the other day and the thread only about a year old was looking fluffy and coming out in parts. Ive only used Riza tiger thread since I started, i think its very good.
low plains drifter 10,561
Wonder if that's to do with the thread or the style of stitching, the people who taught me how to make the pouches don't use knots in the saddle stitching as they believe it holds tight enough as it is, and I've continued to use this method myself
jeemes 4,484
I dont really know mate. Ive got leads that I bought off 2 women on the internet over 10 years ago and the stitching is still in good order. Proper saddle stitched they are and very neat. I remember the name but Im sure theyre still going. Hide & collars they are called. just came back to me Edited June 14, 2020 by jeemes

I've seen the Ritza thread mate, looks a lot like the stuff I've been using the 1mm waxy poly thread

Cheers mate, just something quick and easy to make, sent away for some brass fittings, but they haven't been delivered yet, want to make some collars and leads, do you use saddlers rivets at all ?
