Sausagedog 7,381
Recoil. Our natural desire is to get away from what we know is going to hurt us when in fact we are making it worse. When we try and hold off the gun even if very slight the gun imparts it's momentum in recoil to us abruptly because we ourselves are not recoiling with the gun....we become an obstacle that the gun recoils into and that is what is painful. When we have a good fitting gun and snuggle into it we actually become part of its mass....we add mass to the gun....we recoil as one and the recoil then feels much less. Does that make sense? Another tip I found works and is particularly enjoyable is to eat more pies 1 2 Quote Link to post

Definitely more tense since my back injury. Haha I'd love to eat more pies but don't want to gain weight 1 Quote Link to post

There are so many people who try all sorts of things like blokes keep buying new guns every week because it is the guns fault that they can't connect. The gun shops love it. Changing chokes and going to a 20 bore is completely missing the point because if you have basic system faults, these are just going to replicate in the new situation. A 20 might even have worse recoil because it hasn't got the mass to absorb the recoil. Now S. D has a better feel for this. AND that is Newtons third law of physics. That states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction so the pies theory comes into play so the mass of the pies absorbs the force of recoil. BUT before all of this if your gun is a cheaply and you are bold, get some wood cut off the stock and her the head to stock mount points sorted. It's violent and brutal but sometimes needs must when the devil drives. Quote Link to post
