On the rocks

Recommended Posts

I reckon it takes a special type of dog to work rocks,a lean terrier with a bit of leg to it and most importantly a good nose and extra gear if needed, jmo as I don't or never have worked rocks and fair fucks to the man and dogs that do

There's dogs for jobs the bitch we use is a good bolting dog ,  rocks all about the bolt as most can't be dug my mates bitch will stay hour or two if don't bolt she will come out drop back in most times get your bolt or some rock dogs will kill fox in , dogs can be lost in rock never tobe seen again , most stay away from rock piles as can be hard going dog in for days or weeks , not all terriers can work rock take a lot to work out an find in big piles or not built for the job

Thanks

Every man has his own opinion, but to me, I couldn’t and wouldn’t dream of risking a decent terrier in a death trap like that, where the best outcome possible is a bolted fox ? F*ck that.

We don't have much more to go at but rock the little bitch that worked the pile worked them all her life she be ten now , her mother was top class in rock

Dog needs a very good nose in rock my bitch got good nose but to head strong for rock trying to push in little gaps that a ferret would not fit she not be tryed in big rock piles again

I think too much of my dogs to put them somewhere like that, to me it's only a fox and u will find plenty more in far easyer spots ? don't get me wrong I know there's always a risk when u put a dog to ground but u can help minimize the risks but each to their own ?

The lads that work these place will think as much of there dogs as you do but they have to know there places and know there dogs some lads up in the fell country have terriers that will never see a normal earth. I know a bloke who’s worked some places for 60 year and never had a problem in them and he was shown them by a bloke who had worked them for 60 year before him. If you work on 3 fox a year from them places over 120 year it’s a lot of fox without a terrier even having a night out. I’ve also driven past places he’s told me to never ever put a dog in and told me the tales of caving men going in looking for terriers and going for literally miles
