There was supposed to be a commemoration of the RIC but there has been uproar and they have cancelled any plans to commemorate that organisation. The Black and Tans track was released in order to put pressure on the authorities to cancel their plans. The Black and Tans were so brutal they increased the desire for Irish Independence. They were supposed to crush it. They were sent to Ireland by Churchill. They were hardened ex british army soldiers.

Meece 1,957
If they can't poke up with what the media are / have been reporting about them and they think that they are just going to live a life like the Kardashian or out on a desert island somewhere they ain't seen or experienced anything yet. Now that they have bolted the protective nest the press hounds will hunt them down and tear them up. the press will search into every pore to find out what they want and like andy found out they all seem to have this holier than the rif raf attitude. You only have to remember the nonsense that came out of his mouth and what happened. Where did they stay when in Canada? It wasnt an ex council house. And this is just the start.... 》》》》 The Sun: Meghan and Harry slammed for secrecy over £11million Canadian mansion ‘owned by Russian billionaire’. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/10715035/harry-meghan-secrecy-canadian-home/ And I don't believe a word that the newspapers print. The RIC were Irishmen who happened to be coppers enforcing the law as prescribed by the government of that land at the time........no different from a guard today. i won’t get I to who did what, just pointing out the facts really mate

They were bad, not here to keep the peace or control, just to torment and torture the Irish people. Ric were the same, no different. Atb j
trigger2 3,137
If he wants to leave all he should take with him is the clothes on his back. That’s it end of, anything less is not a serious move to leave the family as he still wants a slice of the cake in some form or the other. his options should be black and white so to speak, all or nothing. She’s the catalyst behind it imo

Obviously the RIC were obliged to operate under the same umbrella as the Tans because they were both officially sanctioned state security services but the RIC were not the Tans. RIC were native Irishmen with wives and children, just like any other working bloke and they were targeted purely because they worked for the crown (as does any copper, soldier, fireman, government employee) They were murdered and their kids left fatherless and their wives left widows.....the IRA and the Tans were the same animal, both ruthless gurilla forces. RIC were ordinary blokes.

I haven't really looked into it pal, my understanding is that the RIC terrorised their own country men, and they were just as bad as the black an tans,

Do servicemen have to swear an oath of allegiance to the queen? How does that square with Catholic servicemen? How did catholic servicemen deal with serving in Northern Ireland during the troubles? Could an average catholic squaddie have been able to put aside his beliefs and fire on Bloody Sunday protesters if ordered to do so? I’ll answer your questions in order , 1 yes they do , not just to the queen but to the crown . 2 it has absolutely zero effect on Roman Catholic servicemen , nil , zip , nada 3 I have no idea but the idea that “oh I’m not going to do anything about these lot throwing petrol bombs and. Rocks at me as they go to the same church of a Sunday as me “ is quite frankly ludicrous 4 I’m not exactly certain of the ecumenical diversity of 1 para in the early 80s but I’d hazard a guess that it was a true reflection of society at that time . I’m not exactly certain where this formula of Roman catholic’s in the army is taking us mate to be honest. However I will say that there are few better organisations to be in that cater to any religion that the British army . Equality is given , not earned

I'm going to leave it here. I'm not getting involved in NI politics, it's better left. The question of personal responsibility, obeying orders which are plainly wrong, personal conscience/religion and so on can only end up in a futile argument with all the participants upset and angry. Again I'm sorry I went there.
