Id love to be able to read football like that.....its taken me 15 minutes to process what your talking about

To be honest Liverpool are playing a system which is completely new and revolutionary.... it's hard watching on TV to appreciate everything that is going on, the running and movement off the ball is lost....

I'd go and watch the Liveroool side in the stands they are that good (f**k that hurts!! Lol)

I think the in finest days of the Arsenal invincibles and  Manchester United those attacks were every bit as fast as we see today, I’d say physically they ran at teams more and moved the ball less so in that sense they were putting in more of a shift that maybe you see now days ? 
 

Teams couldn’t deal with Thiery Henry in his prime then and they wouldn’t be able to deal with him now....no question about it.

Same for Giggs or Rooney, they absolutely terrorised people when they ran at them.

I’d say they have more time on the ball now because defenders will tend to stand off rather than put a foot in to effect the play......I don’t think that because the game is massively faster, I still think that down to rule changes.

The days of “if you don’t get the ball at least you will slow him down” are long gone......do that now and you are walking

Look at the front line of Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo....scored over 100 goals between.them in a season....you just cant live with that!!

Liverpool front 3 are the same....plus those fullback...oh and outstanding ball playing centre backs....you dont really need a midfield!! Lol

I will agree but disagree as although for a koppite watching it it must be exciting , I’d rather sit on watch it on the telly on my own  so you get to see the whole beauty of it . 

I’m as guilty of ball watching in the flesh at games as the next man 

i hate watching footy in pubs as well . Nothing worse

I will agree but disagree as although for a koppite watching it it must be exciting , I’d rather sit on watch it on the telly on my own  so you get to see the whole beauty of it .

I'm the same in pubs, I end up watching it again the next day as you miss most of it...

I think in the stands you see the whole picture, I remember watching Rooney in a game against Arsenal in the FA cup....his running off the ball was unbelievable...but one thing I noticed was how he positioned himself for goal kicks, he would start wide and run across the centre backs either winning the first ball in the air on the run or making the run behind, it was a bit route 1 but he had it to a tee....

You're right that you follow the ball, but you naturally see a lot more live than on telly....

Liverpool must be fantastic to watch live at the moment..

Maybe forwards have more time on the ball and defenders less ?....i just never remember defenders being pressured so much as they are nowadays i suppose the simple logic of defending from the front is in effect more today than ever before maybe.

I was only having this conversation the other day....im not so sure you do see more at a game now than on the telly....i dont know if its improved camera angles or what but the amount of times im watching a game on telly and virtually every outfield player on the pitch is in the picture,you even see it the way teams line up to kick off they seem all condensed into one area.....particularly when your watching one of these " park the bus " type teams.

Oh I agree but I think you have to add in the fact that defenders are so limited on what they can do now days compared to years gone by.

They have to try to defend most things by angling an attacking player away with their body shape, it’s a hell of a lot more running for a defender compared to actually setting yourself and making the full blooded tackle.

Would you rather chase Sterling all day or put a tackle on him?.......I think that’s what it comes down to.

Just as an aside, I’d say one of the best player I have seen who has worked out how to get away with old school defending in the modern game is Sergio Ramos.

THE very best at being a dirty b*****d and getting away with it. I sometimes think refs are frightened to book him or send him off because of the aura he carries with him. It's a bit like Fergie scaring refs who came to Old Trafford, he made them feel they were only welcome if they obeyed his rules.
