You won't beat the mountains

They've stood there without a care in the world long before we got here and they'll stand there long After we've gone

Love snowdon, scafell and nevis ,would love to get out into the dolomites or somewhere at some stage.

Your not wrong there mate when I was up there last year helvellyn was on the opposite side in the cloud and the helicopter is buzzing in there most nights rescuing poorly equipped people I was with a former sas lad for one night that lives up there and is into his fell running etc he said body’s are regularly found around the bottom were they just slide off in bad weather, I always carry enough gear to just bed down f**k walking off in cloud fog and snow

I got caught up on Helvellyn in a passing blizzard, about 100m from the stone windbreak at the top. As I was prepared, no bother! Took out the space blankets (pegged together), stayed in situ, made a makeshift tent, out with the stove and popped a brew on and we sat down and had lunch comfortably. 20-30 mins later it passed. I also know the hill like the back of my hand, so even if it had gone on longer, getting down wouldn't have been an issue.

That's true enough Walt,  some folk are just amazing mate.

An old boss/mate of mine , used to do snowdon as part of a marathon that he did every year.   Snowdon was the last few miles.

He'd spent most of his life in the army( staff sgt , rmp) , and marathon running was his passion.  He always said that he was amazed that binmen were fitter than young soldiers .

Depends on which area and the country mate,it's not all like that, plus it's a huge range, you can trek for days and not see one bit of rubbish nor a person, you probably saw Nepal?
