That prostate is a dodgy thing GM It's good you are back to normal mate.. It’s an enlarged prostate that’s normal for men over 55 mate, but that was causing my kidneys to fail and my blood pressure to rise I now take a pill a day and piss like a teenager and my kidney function is back up to 90 odd percent have to go back in a few months for the 24hr heart monitor again and hope that will be back to normal, have cut out salt and cut down on my chocolate intake to help, but the prostate was causing all the problems

jetro 5,349
Stress is a killer. A few years ago my blood pressure was averaging 165/118, up to 177/122. I nearly kicked it. It was all down to stress. I don't drink, or smoked heavily. Ate a very healthy diet, and kept active. As said, change diet, kick the smokes and try and relax. He sure did, I had a 24hr monitor on, went back, he read the info and said that it must be faulty because I couldn't have it that high. Gave me a brand new one, same thing again, he nearly fainted lol. Definitely the smokes don't help, no matter how little you smoke. I smoked for 32 years, so I know it's not easy giving them up. Just think of what you have to loose if you don't. Atb j

You'll be over the worst of it. Just keep your self busy, don't be hanging around with time on your hands, that's the worst part. My blood pressure is now 80/120 steady. I take one tablet a day to control it. Atb j

Time to give up the smokes mate. As Ted said a Oats is good for the cholesterol so is oily fish, I started taking fish oil capsules but they are not cheap. Banana's are good for helping lower Blood pressure because they contain Potassium. One of the tablets I take is Losartan Potassium the others are Folpik and Indapamide. It took 18 months to 2 years I recon to find what tablets a dose worked. Easy for me to say give up the fags but I can't give up the salt and still drink to much really. Good luck with it mate and don't worry about it your on the case, the pills will bring it back under control, but it might take some tweaking. Also got the Doc to prescribe a tablet called Sildenafil which is like Viagra, you might want to ask if you get that problem. Cheers Arry

king 11,861
Jetro/ted/arry/baldcoot Thanks for the posts lads. I'm out of likes.some great info there though.its put my mind at ease a fair bit. It is quite sobering when the doctor said you need to be on medication for the near future or beyond. It shakes you up a bit I will admit that.
