PeskyWabbits 464
Hello I read on a smallholders forum that if you mix chilli oil with bird seed it makes it rat proof. Has anyone here tried it? Apparently birds don’t have the capability to taste and suffer from chillis but rats and mammals do.
Bosun11 537
They might not be able to taste but they still have soft tender innards and a ring piece. Thing is, how would you know what damage may be done if they just up and fly off after the feed. Best advice would be not to feed wild birds on bird tables but rather grow plants with edible berries and seeds in your garden.
PeskyWabbits 464
Thank you I was thinking for hens not wild birds but this might explain why the idea hasn’t gone anywhere
Hullman 166
Dont think it would work. I've seen vids on the tube of rats and mice eating very hot chillies
