All joking aside you will always regret at least not trying that mate......your son gets 4 weeks in Australia to and you don’t have to go forever or he can move over if you stay.......time flys by mate and every single person I know who has been there has loved it.....I might be going to see a mate over there in February if I stay over that side of the world for longer than a month or if not I’ll go in jan 2021 for 6 weeks......do it Edited December 15, 2019 by Stoney100

I’m at a stage in life that rarely do I have to worry about immediate consequences of drink, but it’s the long term effects that really concern me, especially as only starting a family fairly late in life, plus my dad has always been a boozer & is suffering some apparent effects now. Alcohol is that last thing that I can’t quite get a 100% grip of. That said I have yearly check ups/blood tests & ive got a 31 inch waist at the age of 45 so maybe I shouldn’t worry so much!

THE STIFFMEISTER 15,949
I’ve had three drinks this year , got inside out last week at a work function , a couple of weeks back and on wedding anniversary cant be bothered now with it , especially up town , last went out uptown for nye 2012 , never bothered since , usually sit with the wife for the bells and have a brew. bwfore I turned miserable , I always did 6 weeks dry from new year to my birthday , no crisps and eating better will be my new years resolution this year. Cant even stomach the thought of a Friday jar or a full Saturday night out these days
steve66 3,466
I try and control my drinking by only drinking on days that end in Y , might try this dry month thing see how it goes
poxon 5,741
Rarely drink these days hangovers seem to last for days I only drink once a year properly an that’s the work’s Christmas doo That’s this Friday coming (wish me luck I hope I make it to the other side)but have to clear the calendar for 2-3days after because I’m no use to man nor beast! But that one day/night of the year i drink is more than enough for me to be honest I’m usually in the pub with the boss an couple of supervisors by just gone 12-1 waiting for the others to arrive I can still put drink away well for someone who don’t drink it is funny watching the younger generation arrive at 5 an by 9 there all f****d it’s always funny going for a piss as well seeing colleges piling out the cubicles red faced after they got a bit of Columbia’s finest marching power down them I don’t judge my past is no we’re near squeaky clean I was a proper jack the lad growing up but still fun to watch lads getting f****d up an having a good time

I know what you mean mate and that’s why I like talking about it, I can only talk from experience and if I’m not honest about it ultimately I’m only lying to myself.....me and drink just don’t work full stop......not everyone will get in that state with it but even less will admit they have a problem with it. And a problem is a problem.....small/medium or large if drink is causing any problem in your life it needs sorting before it escalates to one big massive problem that gets out of control pretty quick.......I always say to people who say how amazing drinking is ring me at 6.30am the next day and tell me how amazing it is because that’s exactly how I felt 24/7 unless I had 6 cans to sort me out and to feel normal again and surprisingly none do lol If I went out tonight I know I’d enjoy it.....my old Sunday league pool team will just be warming up nicely now and I’m working for myself tomorrow so could go and get smashed but the thought of waking up with a dry mouth, banging headache, spent a shit load of money and feel like absolute shit is what makes me sit here and talk about it on the Internet But I’ll feel better for it tomorrow when I go pick up two scrap cars on my Mercedes car transporter that I brought out the money I saved from not drinking for the whole of 2018 Edited December 15, 2019 by Stoney100
