fergie 0 Posted January 6, 2008 Report Share Posted January 6, 2008 (edited) Which do would you recomend spaniel or flat coat retriever if the spaniel which one ie english ,welsh,brittany ect and why I have and do shoot with the flat coat retrievers on of whom is a breeder. I would like it to be able to pick up and flush mainly the labs do not do it for me at all. I am not worried about them being hard to train as i have gota Boxer and a staff and the Boxer was well shall we say not easyhow ever they both do the following when told sits,stays,heals,returns when called, rolls over barks when told to speak gives paw lect and right will not eat anything other than his dinner unless i tell him he can the wife can give him meat ect but he want eat it till i tell him I understand that most of this is not hunting related but i thought it might show I have the ability to train them cheers fergie Edited January 6, 2008 by fergie Quote Link to post

You have to have a good sense of humour and not be easily embarrassed to train and work a Flatcoat. They take about 7 years to mature,known as the "peter pan" of the gundog world. You can enter and win a gundog test one week,then the same dog, a few days later, dons a dunces cap and acts the total prat!! Quote Link to post

They take about 7 years to mature The boxers are the same but they ever seem to grow up lol and average life span is 8-10 years Quote Link to post
