IanB 0
Were not on about a dogs running style or experience here were on about a brain as in obedience...what great brain power is needed for lamping, does all lamping require super intelligent half cross collies/greys??? NO does it f**k... Quote Link to post
IanB 0
i know i require more from a night dog then a day dog,,,no not just in stamina and fitness but in carefull runing, jumping, returning and lots more i think it has to work with its master more Errr does that require a super intelligent dog then, to come straight back to recall and jump, etc??? These are basic commands and nothing to do with lamping itself, a dog should do these anyway... I'm off this topic, I've never heard so much bollocks, its like being at a gamefair in the beer tent... Hey fieldmarshall if your reading this you better tell the poodle hes too dumb to catch on the lamp...sure he goes about his job like a heat seeking missle, running right down the beams to specks in a distant fields over fencelines, putting pressure on every turn, making it look effortless then straight back to hand instantly....shit for a coursing bred dog theres something wrong... it takes pure brains, maybe you should trade for a collie x ... Guest markbrick1
Where not on about a dogs running style or experience here were on about a brain as in obedience...what great brain power is needed for lamping, does all lamping require super intelligent half cross collies/greys??? NO does it f**k...i really dont want to keep getting into this,BUT...a dog doesnt use its brain and head when its runing????reading there prey as they go knowing its next move, the bitch in the picture is the fastest rough coat ive seen run are collie x proberly the fastest working lurcher ive ever seen but watch her lamp how she gets to her prey and then slows down she works it she doesnt just chase it,and that needs brains, markps and not to gain an injury at night also requires brains, mark Quote Link to post
Guest joe ox
As already said a brainy dog will excell on the lamp and your bag will be bigger at the end of the night. Quote Link to post

IanB 0
Pure bollocks ... mainly in regard to markbricks comments, he mentions he thinks lamping takes more brains than daytime work ie working nets, ferreting, daytime hunting and commands ... I completely disagree..I also remember his remarks about saluki x's in other posts mocking them.. Quote Link to post

So to answer your question, lamping with dogs does not require a super intelligent dog NO! Quote Link to post
