[/quote I DID SPEEK TO A MATE WHO HAS PET INSURANCE OR SHOULD I SAY DID HAVE UNTIL HER DOG GOT WOUNDED.THEY PAID OUT NO TROUBLE BUT A FEW MONTHS LATER THE DOG WOUNDED IT SELF AGAIN{I THINK WE ALL NO HOW}AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD,NT PAY OUT AGAIN SO SHE CANCELLED IT AND WONT BE USING PET INSURANCE AGAIN. BlueCoyote 0 Posted January 7, 2008 Report Share Posted January 7, 2008 (edited) my dog was injured on a saturday night... the e-vet we took her to charged almost $300 for x-rays and some pain killers... still didnt know why my dog was paralyzed... but for a few dollars more they would either open her up or put her to sleep for us..... ended up taking her home and by the grace of God found a great vet that let us make payments (what ever we could afford as long as we made them) if i can do my doctoring myself then thats what i do. as a kid we couldnt afford any kind of vet so i learned to be my own vet.. and to think there are tons of people who will call me a bad person for doing that!! Caravan Monster 323 Posted January 7, 2008 Report Share Posted January 7, 2008 There must be several thousand working dog owners on THL- thats a lot of money spent at the vets- by listing vets and recommending/ telling of any problems/ noting things like if they have a problem with working dogs/ noting vets who specialise in running dogs- we could gather our combined knowledge and use it as an economic tool. They would soon take notice if bad practice could hit their profit margin. They might think twice about taking the piss with emergency treatment of working dogs/ ferrets if they knew other potential customers would be told about it. I bet there are enough people on here to cover most of the vets in the UK and EIRE- listing like this could be open to abuse though. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

You should demand an itemised receipt and contact the British Veterinary Association. That is hundreds of pounds more than the job should have been. TO BE HONEST NO I DIDNT HAVE HER STITCHED UP I DIDNT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY BUT IT STILL COST ME 122 POUND FOR A PAINKILLER AND A ANTBIOTC AND THE VET DIDNT EVEN CLEAN THE WOUND.WHEN I GOT HER HOME I PUT PAPER STITCHERS ON IT AND A GOOD BANDIGE AND SOME WOUND POWDER ON IT.I KEEP A CHECK ON IT AND SHES ON ANTIBIOTCS THATS THE BEST WE CAN DO.MY HUSBAND SAID HE UNDERSTANDS WHY THERE IS SO MANY ANIMALS LEFT TO SUFFER BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM.I NO YOU SHOULDNT HAVE THE DOGS IF YOU CANT AFORD THEM BUT YOU DONT EXPECT THE VET BILLS TO BE SO MUCH. P.S SORRY ABOUT THE SPELLING BUT I HOPE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHOT IM TRYING TO SAY. IMO £122 should have paid for your dog getting stitched too. Cant blame you for not having it done though. I did enjoy querying the bill in a well populated waiting room with the "practice manager!" I gave him the opportunity to check the bill carefully for any problem before I enlightened the audience. The bulk of the bill is consultation in many cases, but having said thati took a jill with a dead kit inside her that she hadnt passed after 12 hours, she was ultra sound scanned , given 2 injections & the total price was 30 quid , imo it was well worth paying to save her life That vet i am hanging onto, the previous vet was a money grabbing sod, he was going to charge me for weighing a cat to work out the right dose for worming £ 35.00 was what he wanted for 2 small packets of panacur , i asked why so expencive , he said consultation, but what got me was i said on arrival i wanted wormers but needed to weigh the cat first so i knew how much to give. The same vet charged a lady i fostered cats for £ 40.00 for 1 nights stay at the vets, the cat was trapped & was taken to the vets early evening as it was feral & was booked in for speying the next day, strangly the bill came to £ 60 .00 & when she asked for a bill for the accounts , she said the spey cost 20 quid Quote Link to post Share on other sites
