tatsblisters 9,416
I think as a kid the first time you visit London the memory lasts a lifetime i can still remember when the Oldman took me and my cousin to the crufts dog show in the early 70s and walking around the west end i always remember a street performer who used to do the sand dance dressed as an Egyptian and the roast chestnut vendor's.

I got took for a few Christmas lights and chestnut vendors, the Oldman showing me them running from cops, haha great times. He was proud of his beginning in Paddington, absolute poverty, sleeping in a slum house with three families, nearly lost his eye playing on bomb sites , rescuing a mate from the canal , learning to swim in the serpentine, the list goes on , he did good had English hunger and provided for us. I preferred the British, less touristy and cooler , had amazing architecture and less people....and great exhibits...

Spot on there mate. My first trip was to the old Wembley, aged 11 to watch Mansfield v Bristol City ('87) in the freight rover cup final. Like you say, it's the details that you remember. Travelling down in a mk 1 blue escort estate.. my filling coming out eating a chocolate eclair on the motorway... having my first can of carling sat on a grass banking... my dad's mate getting locked up before the game for nutting a copper.. ahhh.. the memories eh!! 2
