Dog coughing

Greyhound bitch came back after a hard run with a dry cough and now when she is on exercise keeps doing same dry cough any clue what it could be lads? Cheers

I used to have a greyhound that dry coughed after a hard race. If my memory serves me right im sure the vet diagnosed bronchitis constriction

Similar thing has happened to mine recently...vet said that it's an infection going round over here at the moment, might be the same in the uk. He said to touch at the base of the neck where the trachea is, if a little bit of pressure it makes it cough it's tracheobronchitis.

Mine had an injection and a course of antibiotics, luckily I have a good vet that doesn't charge a lot...

He also said the best way to prevent it was to make sure the dogs warm before and after running.

Have had that happen a few times this year with mine after a real hard run and he's just sorted himself out. Plenty fluids, some milk or chicken broth I've found helps. A day at the most usually and he's back as normal

I had the same with a deerhound.she had a diagramatic hernia.just a little cough every couple of minutes but her liver ended up in her chest cavity after running into something.

Had the same after a long hard run found him lying in a ditch trying to cool off, left him with a cough for about 3 days. I think someone said he had dryed up his lungs ?

GB off the topic what deerhound lines were she off as I have a Cooklands first cross but looking towards a pure in the future,cheers My hounds.

It was a platts bred bitch.nothing to do with the breeding though,we think she hit a concrete water trough.

Mine sniffs up hard thru his nose like it's blocked now and again after a heavy run, usually just lasts a day or two, no clue what it is

Cough in a jook can mean plenty of things as we all know ,any dog coughing over any time should go vets ,yes could be nothing but it could be lungworm ! Sometimes no sighns are there until the cough comes .

and regular worming don't always work .

Most dogs will cough after a gruelling run when they not fully fit and conditioned for it, it’s just a slight strain on the lungs which usually clears up in a few days

I don't think you have heartworm over there but a cough is a symptom after exercise.I lost a whippet bitch to a grass seed in the lung,common thing with dog's here.

To treat lungworm(not saying in this case though)a course of Milbemax should clear it up
